Angela Gegg is one of Belize’s leading female artists. She has not only accomplished recognition in Belize, while exhibiting large scale including her solo and collaboration exhibits, but she has also accomplished regional recognition throughout the Caribbean and United States.
Angela signed contract with CLICO for one of her paintings which was featured in their 2006 Calendar “The Art of Caribbean Women”, she was selected to represent Belize in the 2006 CLICO Calendar out of Trinidad. She is the FIRST and ONLY female Belizean artist (since the calendars existence in 1992) to have ever been selected for this honor. Angela signed a copyright contract with the company and was featured in the month of January in the calendar. The CLICO ART COLLECTION highlights excellence in the visual art of the Caribbean. Its online gallery seeks to promote Caribbean art education at all levels and features Caribbean artists and their work, as well as essays and discussions on Caribbean works of all types.
Since she moved back to Belize in 2004, she has had three major solo exhibits. “Subconscious Works of Art” held in 2004 was hosted by the Mexican Ambassador at the Institute of Mexico in Belize, and was opened by the Honorable Governor General Sir Colville Young. “Hottt Chicks Can Paint Too” held in 2006 was opened by the Honorable Prime Minister of Belize, where he also endorsed her book THE LIGHT THE DARK AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN.The “Belizean Arts” Exhibit was held in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye in 2006, her first outdistrice event.
She has also been in and a part of and in over ten “Joint Exhibits”, including the "She means We" art Exhibit for Womens week, with other artists since 2004 to present. You can read more about this artist and news reviews in "Angela in the News".
