HOTTT CHICKS CAN PAINT TOO And THE LIGHT, THE DARK, AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN

The public was invited to join us as we presented ?Hottt Chicks can
Paint Too? an art Exhibition and ?The Light, The Dark, and Everything
In Between, a book presentation by Belizean artist Angela Gegg as
Proshka the artist. The first to be presented was the book on Friday July 7th at 2pm at the Image Factory. The artist was on hand to present to the press and public her first
published work. The 200-page book was divided into The Dark, Everything
In Between, The Light, Artist?s Section, Artist?s Statement and a brief
biography. The design and layout was conceived and executed by the
artist. The book contains a special series of photographs, some of
which were taken by the artist by Richard Holder. It was on sale for a
special price of $25 and is now being sold for $30.
After the book presentation at 7:00pm on Friday July 7th, The Image
Factory presented the latest suite of paintings, digital drawings and
other images by Angela. Over forty new works were presented for public
viewing. The artist had special projections and performances to add to
her installation.
This solo exhibition is Gegg's second. Her first
was two years ago at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Belize City.
Gegg has been making art from an early age. She has been a prolific
producer of works that are abstract in its foundation, but interjected
with minimal figurative symbols and forms.
Prime Minister of Belize Rt. Hon. Said Musa officially
opened the exhibition. He gave a speech on her behalf and fully
endorsed her book, reading 5 of his favorite works. He stated that "The
book, The Light, The Dark, and Everything In Between is a journey into
the world of Angela Gegg.This is a book of poetry in a stream of
consciousness of a young Belizean woman who values high her
independence and individuality, I recommend it for your reading
pleasure. It will provoke and secite your sensibilities."
The display will run until August 4th, 2006. |
